As UK pubs have reopened this week following lockdown, we felt it was the perfect time to share a related asbestos resource that many are unaware of: The Duty to Manage Asbestos in Licensed Premises Guidance Document.
Despite being released in 2012, this invaluable document is mostly unnoticed by asbestos professionals.
Some common places asbestos may present a risk include:
- ACMs may have been used in bar construction
- Cellar work at dispense board area: some cellars may have cold room wall cladding, which could be asbestos.
- Python / beer line running, hole cutting, and duct provisions
In the name of safety, perhaps you should pop to your local and check that they are aware of this important guidance!
