Renovation To the Houses of Parliament Halted Due to Asbestos Exposure

The ongoing renovation to the Houses of Parliament has been halted after 9 parliamentary workers and multiple contractors were exposed to asbestos.

The incident occurred in the Speakers Apartments, which is undergoing major renovations as part of a larger project taking place on the asbestos riddled Houses of Parliament.

The House is currently working with our contractors, supply chain and the Health and Safety Executive following an incident of possible asbestos exposure on the estate. A temporary pause in construction projects was implemented to ensure lessons learned from this incident are rapidly implemented.
