The following query was received by a Norac Member:
Recently a client was carrying out works to a furnace and over a 3 hour period disturbed asbestos insulation. I advised the client that as this would have been a licensed activity, this incident would need to be notified to the HSE under RIDDOR as a dangerous occurrence. However during a recent UKAS visit, it was indicated that for different types of asbestos, time of exposure has also to be taken into account.
I would appreciate clarity on the above and any similar experiences from NORAC members if possible.
