We are at risk of opening an unpleasant can of worms here, we do not want to be in a situation where an analyst is required at every R/D survey. A competent surveyor would not leave an area contaminated following a survey. If asbestos is disturbed then appropriate measures should be taken to isolate and clean the area. I believe that this is the spirit of the HSE comment for the are to be “fit for reoccupation”, and has absolutely nothing to do with asbestos removal and four stage clearances. In this respect we are losing the plot. Our focus should be on trying to get building contractors and architects etc to instruct R/D surveys rather than making it even harder for them to be carried out.
Totally agree. I do have some NHS clients who insist on doing reassurance testing after every survey but that’s normally down to the infection control teams insisting on it. if a survey is undertaken correctly there shouldn’t be any need for it.
