The guidance covers lots of different sampling with the results being dependent upon the LOQ and the sensitivity of the method being used. For high volume sampling with extended monitoring periods then the LOQ is very low and therefore can record to multiple decimal places. When monitoring to the Control Limit the sample volume will be smaller and/or also the result should be much higher therefore there is no need to have multiple decimal places. Likewise with clearance indicator sampling the sample volume is relatively small (480l) and the LOQ is typically 0.01 so again wouldn’t have the required sensitivity to quote to 4 decimal places.
