BAck in a previous life (1991) the company I then worked for was asked to carry out exposure asssessments for various day-to-day tasks that sefarers may have to carry out whilst the ship was at sea.
Bulkheads and deckeheads were commonly laminated AIB back then, and sometimes had to be removed for emergency works/repairs.
The tests were all carried out by trained asbestos removal contractors under very carefully controlled conditions, albeit trying to reflect the reality of being carried out by “inexperienced” peeps (using hand-tools only).
