Once again the analysts guide misses the point.  A client when paying for an air test wants to know “Is is now safe?”  There is no provision for analysts to measure with sufficient sensitivity to compare results to existing epidemiological risk models.  Nor is there any explanation of risk levels.  We need to be stepping up knowledge not dumbing it down.

Analysts do not fully understand the consequences of the decisions they are making.

With mesothelioma at current levels, we need to change the way we are approaching our attitude to risk.  We need results which reflect safer air concentrations.  The science is there, why is HSE ignoring it?    Hodgson and Darnton (2000), is cited in the references, Table 11 of their paper sets out the risks.  This guidance ignores those risks.

People will die if we get this wrong.
